Welcome

Welcome to the Lindisfarne Rowing Club, one of Tasmania’s greatest sporting organisations.
We have a proud history of rowing on the famous River Derwent and beyond.
The club was established in 1905 by a group of enthusiastic business and sports-minded
founder members. They shared a vision to enrich the lives and health of the Lindisfarne
community via the noble sport of rowing. It was considered so dignified and gallant, rowing
was the only sport deemed suitable for a Sunday by local church groups.
From these idealistic beginnings, the club has inspired and nurtured hundreds of members
who champion the club’s values:

  • Excellence and service to the sport of rowing
  • Physical and mental health
  • Respect for yourself, club members, crew members and competitors
  • Friendship
  • Community support

Lindisfarne Rowing Club has consistently produced members who are leaders in
administration and coaching as well as athletic performance. Skills and ambitions are
realised at local events, state and national regattas and at world championship level.
Lindisfarne rowers have represented Australia and won gold on the international and
Olympic stages.
Among our members are novices, masters, elite rowers and recreational paddlers. We also
welcome social members and our revered seniors who are still actively involved in the club.
If you love the drive produced from a crisp catch, clean finish and steady roll forward, then
Lindisfarne Rowing Club is the place to be.
